Barratt was invited by the United Nations to install Karito in the lobby of the General Assembly in New York City, from October 14th 2008. All 192 member anthems of the UN were recorded on eight instruments, transposed into the same key. These pieces of music are distributed randomly to multiple speakers around the space.
The individual anthems work together to create a greater whole. The music has no beginning and no end. Every listener has a different experience dependent on their position in the room. Occasional dissonances do occur, but invariably time passes and something beautiful and unexpected takes place a few bars later.
KARITO is the Esperanto word for 'love of your neighbor'. Barratt created it as a meditation on nation states, community and identity.

Congratulations for your initiative in choosing the Esperanto name "Karito" for your organisation!
As far as the United Nations is concerned can I suggest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LV9XU if you have time?
